The three-dimensional structure of calcium-depleted human C-reactive protein from perfectly twinned crystals.
C-reactive protein is a member of the pentraxin family of oligomeric serum proteins which has been conserved through evolution, homologues having been found in every species in which they have been sought. Human C-reactive protein (hCRP) is the classical acute-phase reactant produced in large amounts in response to tissue damage and inflammation and is used almost universally as a clinical indi...
متن کاملPrimary structure of human C-reactive protein.
The complete amino acid sequence of human C-reactive protein has been established. Distant homologies to C3 homology region in the CH2 domain of IgG and to C3a anaphylotoxin have been noted. No homology to other immunoglobulin homology regions or to the same homology region in other heavy chains was observed. The previously reported homologies between rabbit and human C-reactive protein and pro...
متن کاملC-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS
C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.
متن کاملC-reactive protein: structure affects function.
C-reactive protein (CRP), formerly considered solely as a biomarker for inflammation, is now viewed as a prominent partaker in endothelial dysfunction and atherosclerosis.2,3 Serving clinically for several years as a nonspecific marker for inflammatory processes, CRP, with the advent of high-sensitivity assays, has emerged as one of the most powerful independent predictors of cardiovascular dis...
